I’m so familiar with the feeling of resistance. They bracing of my physical body and mind against change. Sometimes I’m so scared, but thankfully I’m becoming more familiar with the feeling of easing in to change, holding my own through change, knowing that even though I’m experiencing fear and resistance that I still have an opportunity to acknowledge it, call it by its name and to decide whether it’s a feeling that should really be in the driving seat. I heard @elizabeth_gilbert_writer speaking about fear this way and it’s been enlightening to use this analogy. I often dream of driving a car or flying a plane, and in the past those dreamshave almost always resulted in crashes, quite devastating crashes... I’m talking about most of my adult life actually. More recently I watched a jumbo jet take off in my dream and watched it fly out of sight for the first time. The feeling I had as I watched was that it would get to where it’s going safely. Something in me has changed. Going with the flow now is a practice in recognising who’s in the driving seat, mentally and emotionally. I get to choose now, and I choose with love and respect for all aspects of my character.
